The previous owner spent a considerable amount of money rebuilding the boat. This included rewiring, New leather upholstery, epoxy bottom, new rigging and spar overhaul, engine and gearbox rebuild etc. I have only cruised Altair locally over the last two years of ownership and am planning an extensive cruise as soon as business permits. [the old story ..can afford the boat but not the time.] I have previously cruised the east coast of Australia from Sydney to Townsville in Queensland. Altair is my sixth sailboat. |

We plan on leaving southern California and heading south to Mexico in October 08. Some of the projects I have involved myself with are installing double propane tanks with automatic crossover valving, complete refurbishing of original teak decks which we wouldn't trade for anything by the way and cabin lighting converted to cold cathodes. Next will be installation of a DC generator with 3000 watt inverter along with an integrated watermaker. Also plans for a tankless instant hot waterheater. |

'Takin Off' proved to be an excellent sea boat and averaged 136 miles a day between the Galapagos and Hiva Oa in French Polynesia on the longest leg of over 3000 miles. Best day 179 miles in 24 hours, and she still had speed in reserve! |

All new electrical with 60 amp shore power, new ac/dc panel with guages, 40 amp sub panel at nav station, new 3 bank battery system with charger and 5kw Onan gen set. All new plumbing with electric heads, all new pipe, holding tanks. twin 3700 bildge pumps, twin fresh water pumps and wash-down. All new refrigeration. Removed entire sole, ran thru planer and refinished with Ultimate Sole (non-skid). Raymarine E120 system and radioes are next. |

E-Mail Paul & Richard You have a photo of a Cheoy Lee 48 with a red hull, 1981 by Bob Perry with the name of: "Lady Catherine." We purchased that exact vessel in Oct. 2001 from the sellers, Tom and Cathy Tungent. A previous owner had added a 3 foot sugar scoop as seen in the photo. Since purchasing the boat, we renamed it "King Richard." We've done a lot of work on it including new fuel lines and dual filters, new thru hulls, new exhaust and related plumbing, pumps, etc. some electrical, new feathering MaxiProp, etc. etc. The vessel has a wooden mast, cutter rigged. When we have the money, we'd like to replace it with a new aluminum Forespar mast and boom. We hope to sail the vessel to the south Pacific, time and money permitting.
