"Speedwell"
was built by Lt. Cdr A.G. Hamilton R.N. and sailed from Singapore via Cape Town to
England in 1954. John Goodwin bought her and sailed her single-handed back to Cape
Town in 1955. Both voyages are extensively recorded in various books and
publications. She was owned for many years by the late Judge Louis van Winsen.
