We
purchased 'Jamcill' (formally 'Tenderlies') in 1997 and had her
trucked from Burlington VT to our home in central NY to have access to
do a top to bottom restoration. Over 10 years we completed
virtually a complete restoration. We are the 4th owner and have been told by
the previous owner that she was brought back from China aboard the
deck of a US Aircraft Carriers and sailed one year by the Admiral who
purchased her. The second owner sailed her on weekends on Lake
Champlain for several years. She was then purchased by the
previous owner and used in the charter business on Lake Champlain.
'Jamcill' has turned
up in three national publications. In April 1996 "Practical Sailor"
published an article on the Clipper series and used our boat as an
example of the Clipper 36. In 2001 "Gold Old Boat" did an
article on the Cheoy Lee Association with pics of 'Jamcill" The
December 08 issue of "Soundings" featured 'Jamcill' in the used boat
feature.
Our plans for
cruising has changed and we regret but must sell 'Jamcill' She
is ready to cruise and all systems are in near perfect condition.
'Jamcill' as of Dec 08 has been sailed less than 50 hours since the
completion of the restoration.
We do not have many
good pictures of 'Jamcill' under sail but

General:
Hull number 2318,
'Jamcill' was built in 1969. She is Ketch rigged and ready to
cruise. The Clipper 36 came in two floor plans. Ours is
Plan B (see image to right ) with a fold down table, with
seating (extension settee's) on both the port and starboard side that
slide out to form a large bed. This plan also has two pilot berths, a
large head and a forward birth that with insert installed forms a very
large double bed.
The Clipper 36 has
beautiful sheer lines and with the Sitka Spruce spars and bowsprit is
a boat that catches the eyes of everyone at any marina. The
interior teak wood work is exceptional and we have never stopped
admiring the skill that went into the wood work on Jamcill. We
have fully restored all the teak interior.

Restoration:
I did the
restoration of this Clipper with a view to keeping the boat for a
very long time. I enjoyed doing the restoration work and spent over
2,800 hours (over 11 years) on the various tasks. The restoration was successful,
and the boat is in very good condition. Our plans have changed, and
this is the reason for the sale.

-
The cockpit on
Jamcill has been completely refurbished and enhanced. The
previous owner had the original teak deck removed, new coring and
glass deck installed. We installed a new teak deck in the
cockpit using the West System of installing the teak without screws
and using carbon impregnated epoxy for the joints.
- The cockpit on the
Clipper series was built with an open design. We installed teak
comings to make the cockpit comfortable and this allowed space to
build teak LP gas lockers with double as raised seats
(click photo
to the right). A teak cockpit table was installed as
well as a large Force 10 BBQ. The BBQ can be used on either the
port or starboard rails installed on the taffrails. BBQ used 3
times.
- A safety feature
installed in the cockpit drains allows all the below waterline
seacocks to be left in the closed position when leaving the boat.
This is accomplished with a tee in one of the cockpit drains routed to
an above the waterline thru hull.
- 2007-8 installed new
Dodger and awning which covers entire cockpit area.
- 2008 new Kingston
Davits installed.
- 5 custom made
cockpit cushions fabricated by C Cushions, Inc.

Forward Double Hull Crash Zone:
An
unusual feature of 'Jamcill' is the fact that the holding tank
has been made integral with the hull such that where the hull to be
penetrated anywhere forward of the aft-most wall of the water tank,
the influx of water does not communicate directly with the main
bilge. Therefore a substantial hole in the bow region of the hull
in the forward section is unlikely to sink the boat. This is a very
conservative, safety feature in a coastal cruiser, normally found
only on "blue water" boats.
Thruhull Safety:
We designed the cockpit drains to allow them
and all thruhulls to be left in the closed position when not on the
boat. To drain the cockpit a tee was installed in one of the
drains which leads to above the waterline thruhull. This
allows for peace of mind when boat is left unattended.
